Minister of Energy Inspects Power Stations and Facilities in Khartoum

For the second consecutive day, Minister of Energy Engineer Consultant Al-Mu‘tasim Ibrahim Ahmed continued inspections of electricity generation, distribution, and transmission facilities in Khartoum.

On Thursday, the minister visited the Bahri Thermal Power Station (Martyr Dr. Mahmoud Sharif Thermal Plant), where he was received by engineers and staff led by Engineer Consultant Abdullah Ahmed Mohamed Ali, Director General of Sudan Electricity Holding Company, along with senior officials from electricity companies.

During the visit, the minister reviewed the extent of damage inflicted on the station by the rebel militia and received a comprehensive briefing from staff on ongoing rehabilitation work, which began more than a year ago, given the plant’s importance to the capital. He expressed confidence in the readiness of engineers and technicians to restore the station to full operation.

The minister also visited the headquarters of Sudan Electricity Holding Company in Khartoum Bahri and the Sudan Electricity Transmission Company, where he checked on progress in maintaining administrative offices. He praised the efforts of electricity sector workers, describing reconstruction in the sector as a form of “jihad,” given its vital importance to both citizens and the state.
