Red Cross: We Welcome All Efforts Aimed at Ending the War in Sudan

Sudan’s Permanent Representative in Geneva, Ambassador Hassan Hamid Hassan, met with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mirjana Spoljaric, and her senior aides at the organization’s headquarters.

The meeting comes as part of the Sudanese Permanent Mission’s efforts in Geneva to brief stakeholders on the contents of the Sudanese government’s initiative, which was presented by Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Al-Tayeb Idris to the UN Security Council.

During the meeting, the Sudanese envoy outlined the details of the initiative, noting the broad support and welcome it has received from the United Nations Secretary-General, the African Union, the League of Arab States, the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region, as well as from numerous countries at the bilateral level.

In this context, the President of the ICRC praised the initiative and all efforts aimed at ending the war, emphasizing that such steps would enable humanitarian organizations to gain access and deliver aid to those affected.
