Militia Drone Strike Kills and Injures 18 in South Kordofan

Five people were killed and 13 others injured on Sunday after a drone operated by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia struck Kartala Market in the Six Mountains area of South Kordofan State.

According to the Sudan Doctors Network, all those killed and wounded were civilians who were inside the market at the time of the strike.

In a statement, the network strongly condemned the direct targeting of civilians by the RSF, holding the RSF leadership fully responsible for the attack and its consequences, describing it as a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the rules governing the protection of civilians.

The Sudan Doctors Network called on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to take urgent steps to protect civilians in conflict zones and to pressure RSF leaders to halt systematic attacks on markets and residential neighborhoods.

The network also confirmed it would continue monitoring the health situation and providing medical support to the injured, urging all parties to spare civilians and civilian infrastructure, and to work toward opening safe corridors to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to affected populations—particularly to areas besieged in South Kordofan State for more than two years.
