Sudan–Arab Agreement to Support Training and Capacity Building During Reconstruction Phase

The Director General of the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization (SSMO), Rahba Saeed Abdullah, affirmed that the organization places great emphasis on training and capacity building as fundamental pillars for building a strong institution capable of contributing effectively to national development, particularly during the post-conflict reconstruction phase. She noted that this focus is pursued through developing technical and administrative competencies across various fields.

In this context, the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Cairo with the Arab Administrative Development Organization (ARADO), an affiliate of the League of Arab States, aimed at enhancing scientific and technical cooperation and establishing an effective partnership in areas of mutual interest.

The MoU seeks to create a bridge for cooperation and communication in scientific and technological fields, facilitate the exchange of expertise, improve institutional performance, and support training, capacity building, and human resource development.

The MoU was signed on behalf of ARADO by its Director General, Dr. Nasser Al-Qahtani, while Dr. Haitham Hassan Abdel Salam, representing the Director General of the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization, signed on behalf of the SSMO.

Dr. Al-Qahtani stated that the organization is fully prepared to support the Republic of Sudan and the SSMO in training and administrative development fields, affirming his personal commitment and the organization’s support for the authority’s efforts during the reconstruction phase. He also pledged technical support, administrative capacity building, and assistance in opening channels of cooperation with external donor entities, as well as facilitating procedures necessary to implement the MoU’s provisions.

For his part, Dr. Haitham Hassan Abdel Salam emphasized the authority’s commitment and that of its senior management to implementing the MoU in a manner that benefits employees and enhances institutional performance. He noted that both sides agreed to adopt an executive plan for joint projects and activities, translating the cooperation framework into practical programs in training, capacity building, and administrative and technical development to ensure the partnership’s objectives are achieved and available resources optimally utilized.

The signing ceremony was attended by representatives of the Sudanese Embassy in Cairo, the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, as well as representatives of the International Relations Unit, the Executive Office, and the Human Resources Development Department of the authority.
