Minister of Minerals: Sudan Opens Partnership Path with the World Bank to Finance Infrastructure

Sudan’s Minister of Minerals, Nour Al-Daim Taha, said that Sudan has discussed with the World Bank Group opportunities to finance strategic infrastructure projects, alongside programs to support local communities, training, and capacity building, as part of a government drive to promote sustainable development and stimulate economic growth.
In a press statement on Thursday, the minister explained that the talks held with Valerie Levkoff, Vice President of the World Bank Group for Infrastructure, on the sidelines of the Fifth International Mining Conference in Riyadh, focused on Sudan’s significant potential in industrial and critical minerals and the promising opportunities this presents for investment and the development of value-added supply chains.
Nour Al-Daim Taha emphasized the important role the World Bank could play in supporting the mining sector through the deployment of modern technologies, particularly in digital exploration and production, linking Sudan to global innovation hubs, and strengthening partnerships with international institutions and the private sector.
He added that both sides agreed to coordinate efforts to convene an expanded meeting in the coming period to discuss the proposed projects in detail and to develop a clear roadmap for moving them into the implementation phase.
