Calls for Expediting the Opening of Sorghum Exports

Former board member of the Gezira and Managil Agricultural Scheme, Jamal Dafallah Taha, said that sorghum harvesting operations in the Gezira and Managil projects are progressing well.
He noted that 400,000 feddans were cultivated, with harvesting already underway, adding that productivity exceeds 12 sacks per feddan. Taha explained that sorghum prices range between 90,000 and 100,000 pounds per sack for the Wad Ahmed sample, and between 130,000 and 140,000 pounds for the Tabat variety.
He called for the urgent opening of sorghum exports and for determining the Salam price in coordination with the Agricultural Bank to enable the delivery of sorghum to the strategic reserve.
