Restart of the National Switch to Resume ATM Operations

Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, Amina Mirghani Hassan, on Sunday inaugurated the first phase of restarting the National Switch Project, through the installation and operation of the project’s technical systems and equipment, in preparation for full operational launch in the coming period.

During the inauguration ceremony, she affirmed that the National Switch Project is one of the central bank’s strategic and pivotal initiatives, forming part of its vision to modernize and develop banking infrastructure, enhance the efficiency of payment and settlement systems, and support financial inclusion efforts.

She explained that the project’s reactivation represents a key step in the recovery and development of the banking sector, reflecting the state’s serious orientation toward digital transformation and technological modernization of the financial sector. This, she said, will enhance banking performance efficiency, increase security and reliability in financial transactions, support financial system stability, and create an enabling environment for expanding electronic banking services.

The national switch enables the operation of ATMs and point-of-sale terminals and links them with banking systems nationwide.
