Director of Mineral Resources Resumes Duties from Khartoum

The Managing Director of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, Mohamed Taher Omar, returned to the country on Tuesday evening following an active participation in the International Mining Conference recently held in Riyadh, the Saudi capital.

On Wednesday, the Managing Director resumed his official duties from his office in Khartoum, where he held a series of meetings with the Assistant Managing Director for Technical Affairs and department directors to review workflow and follow up on the implementation of the company’s plans and programs for the coming phase. He also toured offices to check on staff members.

Sudan’s participation in the Riyadh conference witnessed significant engagement, during which the Managing Director presented promising investment opportunities in Sudan’s mining sector. He also held discussions with several international companies and investors on avenues for joint cooperation and the transfer of modern technologies to boost production and support the national economy.

In his first remarks after returning, the Managing Director reaffirmed the company’s commitment to developing the mining sector and maximizing public revenues, stressing the importance of capitalizing on the outcomes of the Riyadh conference to attract quality investments that contribute to supporting the national economy and developing local communities in production areas.

He further directed efforts toward removing obstacles facing mining companies operating in the country and continuing measures to strengthen oversight and supervision to ensure resource sustainability and environmental protection, while expressing appreciation for the significant efforts exerted by company staff during his absence.
