Army Launches Airstrikes on Rapid Support Forces Positions Near Ethiopian Border

The Sudanese Armed Forces’ Air Force carried out concentrated airstrikes targeting positions belonging to the Rapid Support Forces militia in the Yabous area along the Sudan–Ethiopia border, according to field sources cited by Al-Youm News.

Sources reported that the strikes hit support points and field movements of RSF elements in the eastern sector, as part of escalating military operations between the two sides across multiple fronts in recent days.

According to available information, the strikes followed the detection of intensified RSF movements near border lines, raising concerns over potential infiltration attempts or redeployment in sensitive border areas.

The sources confirmed that the army aims, through these operations, to tighten restrictions on RSF mobility and prevent the use of border المناطق as supply routes or corridors for repositioning.

Eastern Sudan has witnessed growing security tensions in recent weeks amid the widening confrontation between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces. Border areas with Ethiopia hold particular strategic importance due to their geographic sensitivity and potential links to broader regional movement routes.

The military escalation comes alongside increasing indicators of the internationalization of the Sudanese conflict and its entanglement with regional issues related to border security, logistical corridors, and geopolitical balances in the Horn of Africa.
