Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan Holds First Meeting with Bank Executives in Khartoum

The Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, Amina Mirghani Hassan, held on Friday in Khartoum her first meeting with chief executives of commercial banks operating in the country, following the Central Bank’s resumption of operations from within the national capital.

During the meeting, the Governor praised the resilience of the banking sector throughout the previous phase, affirming that it has now entered a stage of recovery. She noted that the recent joint meeting of the Sovereignty Council and the Council of Ministers approved the Banking Regulation Act of 2026, which emphasizes strengthening governance frameworks, adherence to anti–money laundering and counter-terrorism financing standards, promotion of financial inclusion, and accelerating digital transformation in the banking sector.

The Governor also commended banks for responding to the call to return to Khartoum State, urging bank administrations to regularize their operations and complete the full return of the banking system, in a manner that enhances its role in supporting economic stability and contributing effectively to reconstruction efforts in the coming phase.
