Essential Goods Reach Dilling for the First Time in Two Years

Essential commodities flowed into the city of Dilling on Friday for the first time in nearly two years, bringing about an immediate and sharp decline in prices in local markets.

More than ten trucks loaded with sugar, flour, sorghum, onions, and fuel reached the city from North Kordofan, marking the largest convoy to arrive in Dilling in over two years.

Local sources told Sudan Tribune that most essential goods have been available in markets since Friday morning.

The sources noted that markets witnessed large quantities of onions, which had been completely unavailable for the past six months. Sorghum prices fell dramatically, with a sack now selling for around 40,000 Sudanese pounds, down from 400,000 previously. The price of sugar dropped to approximately 3,400 pounds per kilogram, compared to about 25,000 pounds before.
