22 Killed in Militia Shelling of Al-Kuwaik Hospital

The Sudan Doctors Network announced that 22 people were killed — including the medical director of Al-Kuwaik Military Hospital and three medical staff members — and eight others were injured following shelling by the Rapid Support Forces targeting Al-Kuwaik Hospital in South Kordofan State.

The network condemned the targeting of healthcare facilities and medical personnel, describing it as a war crime and a grave violation of international humanitarian law and conventions protecting civilians and medical infrastructure.

The network stressed that the attack was not an isolated incident but part of a pattern of assaults across South Kordofan that have forced several hospitals out of service, worsening the humanitarian crisis and threatening remaining healthcare services for civilians.

The Sudan Doctors Network held the Rapid Support Forces fully responsible for the attack and called on the international community, as well as UN and human rights organizations, to take urgent action to stop repeated attacks on healthcare facilities.
