Malik Agar Denies Any Understandings or Peace Agreements Regarding the War in Sudan

Malik Agar, Deputy Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, has categorically denied the existence of any understandings or peace agreements reached regarding the ongoing war in the country. His remarks came in direct response to statements attributed to U.S. presidential adviser for Arab and African affairs, Massad Boulos, who spoke of progress in drafting a peace proposal led by the “International Quartet.”

Agar said the Sudanese government continues to reiterate its firm position of not engaging in any negotiation process at the present time, stressing that any talk of final texts or agreements “does not reflect reality” and “is not based on an officially mandated position.”

He affirmed that the fundamental condition for any political track to resolve the crisis is ending the rebellion and restoring security, expressing rejection of any political settlement without the withdrawal of rebel militias from residential areas and civilian infrastructure, and the removal of weapons from outside state control.

The statement comes amid escalating regional and international diplomatic efforts aimed at reviving initiatives to halt the war in Sudan, as fighting continues between government forces and the Rapid Support Forces, further complicating the political and military landscape.
