$11 Million Contract Signed for Maintenance and Rehabilitation of Al-Halfaya Bridge

On Sunday, Member of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Assistant to the Commander-in-Chief and Head of the Higher Committee for Preparing the Environment for Return to Khartoum State, Lt. Gen. Eng. Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, witnessed the signing of a contract for the maintenance and rehabilitation of Al-Halfaya Bridge linking Omdurman and Khartoum North. The signing took place in the presence of Sovereign Council member Nuwara Abu Mohammed, a number of ministers, the Governor of Khartoum State, and heads of subcommittees of the Higher Committee.
The first contract was signed by Itqan Company for Engineering Consultancy and Services, while the second was signed by IBC Construction Company, with the Roads and Bridges Authority of Khartoum State as the project owner.
Khartoum State Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Eng. Abdulwahid Abdulmunim Abdulaziz, explained that the contracts were signed with Sudanese companies and national expertise to carry out civil and engineering works, in addition to consultancy services for supervision, design follow-up, and testing.
He stated that the total cost of the project is approximately $11 million, equivalent to about 42 trillion Sudanese pounds, covering both engineering and consultancy works. He added that the project duration is estimated at nine months starting from the date of contract signing.
