The Sudanese government has strongly condemned what it described as international silence regarding war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and its so-called founding government in the Darfur and Kordofan regions.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said these crimes are being carried out using weapons and equipment that can only be obtained through end-user certificates.
The ministry stressed that violating the UN Security Council resolution imposing an arms embargo on Darfur places the Council’s credibility at stake. It added that ignoring the sources of these weapons, the funding entities, and the countries that supply and facilitate their delivery to criminals casts serious doubt on the credibility of the international community and its relevant mechanisms.
The statement affirmed that the Sudanese government will not accept guardianship, nor will it accept that those complicit in the crimes—or those who remain silent about them—be partners in any project aimed at ending the war.
The government reiterated its commitment to ending the war, halting the destruction of the state, and preventing the starvation of the population—not through externally imposed solutions, but by dismantling the sources, mechanisms, and tools used to commit these crimes, holding perpetrators accountable, and prosecuting those who violate Security Council resolutions and international humanitarian law.
The Sudanese government expressed its gratitude to sisterly and friendly countries that support Sudan’s security, unity, the safety of its people, and the integrity of its institutions. It called on the international and regional community to fulfill its responsibilities in confronting those responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur, Kordofan, and other parts of Sudan.
