The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it received the news of the killing of a number of civilians “with deep sorrow” following an attack carried out by the Rapid Support Forces militia that targeted a vehicle carrying displaced people in Sudan’s North Kordofan state.
An RSF attack on a vehicle transporting displaced civilians in the Dibaykar area of North Kordofan on Saturday resulted in the killing of 24 people, including eight children and women.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said the attack constitutes a flagrant and serious violation of international humanitarian law, particularly with regard to the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure during armed conflicts.
The statement strongly condemned the targeting of civilians and called for the establishment of safe and unhindered corridors for civilians, as well as ensuring the delivery of humanitarian assistance to those affected.
