El-Sisi to Kamil Idris: No Forced Return of Sudanese in Egypt

Prime Minister said that Egyptian President has affirmed that there will be no forced repatriation of Sudanese nationals residing in Egypt, stressing that they are treated as residents under the protection of the Egyptian state.

Dr. Idris explained that irregular migration is regarded as a national security issue for countries around the world.

According to the newspaper Al-Sudani, Idris added that President El-Sisi pledged to resolve all issues concerning Sudanese nationals currently detained in Egyptian prisons within the coming weeks.

He further stated that the Egyptian president had granted exemptions for certain categories, including the elderly, the sick, and persons with disabilities, particularly with regard to residency matters, as well as facilitating access to medical treatment and medication.

The Prime Minister also addressed issues concerning Sudanese students and education in Egypt, noting that President El-Sisi welcomed the holding of the Sudanese secondary school certificate examinations in Egypt next April. He directed the relevant authorities to ensure the organization, security, and facilitation of procedures for Sudanese male and female students.

Idris expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and the support provided by the Egyptian government to Sudan across various fields and international forums, commending Cairo’s steadfast position in supporting Sudan’s stability, territorial integrity, and its rejection of parallel governments and militias.

He added that talks in Cairo underscored the need to intensify economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Sudan and Egypt. The Egyptian government, he said, reaffirmed its support for reconstruction projects across Sudan in sectors including infrastructure, electricity, water, health, and education, and pledged to transfer its full expertise to assist in rebuilding the country.
