Ambassador , Sudan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Permanent Representative to the , headed Sudan’s delegation—on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation—to the extraordinary meeting of OIC foreign ministers held at the organization’s General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah on Thursday evening. The meeting discussed recent developments concerning the expansion of Israeli settlements and the deepening of annexation policies aimed at altering the status and character of Palestinian territories.
In Sudan’s statement, the Permanent Representative noted that the extraordinary meeting was convened at a critical time marked by escalating illegal Israeli activities intended to entrench settlement expansion in the occupied Palestinian territories—actions that constitute a flagrant violation of international resolutions and a challenge to the will of the international community. He called on member states to adopt a unified and firm stance in response to these violations.
The statement affirmed Sudan’s deep concern over the grave developments in the State of Palestine, which seek to undermine all peace initiatives—particularly efforts to achieve the two-state solution that fulfills the legitimate aspiration of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital. It reiterated Sudan’s rejection of illegal decisions and measures by the Israeli occupation aimed at consolidating settlement expansion, annexation, fragmentation of Palestinian lands, and attempts to impose alleged Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank.
The statement further stressed that the continued Israeli escalation in settlement activities and unlawful annexation constitutes a blatant assault on the historical rights of the Palestinian people and poses a direct threat to regional and international peace and security. It called for effective measures to halt these practices and violations in a manner that safeguards Palestinian rights and helps restore justice and balance in the region.
Sudan also urged OIC member states and the General Secretariat to continue confronting these serious violations and illegal practices aimed at displacing the Palestinian people from their land, through activating all mechanisms provided for within the organization and intensifying action at all levels to clarify the OIC’s position.
