Hezbollah Strikes Haifa; Israel Launches Air Raids on Lebanon

Lebanon’s Hezbollah announced on Monday that it had targeted the southern outskirts of the northern Israeli city of Haifa with a salvo of rockets and drones, describing the attack as retaliation for the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

The Israeli military responded to the barrage by carrying out air strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs, as well as areas in southern and eastern Lebanon.

In a statement, Hezbollah said it had struck the Mishmar HaCarmel site south of Haifa with a volley of rockets and drones “in revenge for the blood of Imam Khamenei and in defense of Lebanon and its people.” The group added that “the resistance affirms that the continuation of Israeli aggression and the assassination of our leaders and youth grants us the right to defend ourselves and respond.”
