Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris affirmed the Hope Government’s commitment to strengthening and developing cooperation between Sudan and Liberia.
This came during his meeting on Thursday with Liberia’s Foreign Minister, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, in the presence of Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohi El-Din Salem, and the Director-General of Liberia’s National Security Agency.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister reviewed developments in the country amid what he described as the existential war imposed on Sudan, as well as the violations and atrocities committed by the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia, which have been condemned by the international community.
The meeting also discussed the Sudanese government’s national peace initiative, which has received broad acceptance and significant support at both regional and international levels.
In a press statement, the Liberian Foreign Minister said the visit came in response to an official invitation from the Sudanese government to deepen bilateral relations and discuss issues of mutual interest, particularly in light of regional developments, Sudan’s return to the African Union, and Liberia’s experience in national recovery and post-conflict reconstruction.
She affirmed her country’s readiness to assist the Sudanese government in achieving comprehensive and lasting peace in Sudan.
