Abdul Wahid’s Forces Arrest Civilians in Jebel Marra on Espionage Charges

Three sources from the Jebel Marra area, which is under the control of the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdul Wahid Mohamed al-Nur, said on Monday that the group’s forces had arrested three civilians on accusations of espionage and have held them in detention for several days.

A relative of the detainees told Darfur24 that a unit from the movement’s intelligence service arrested Ahmed Saleh Ahmed, known as “Tonik,” Al-Rashid Jangali, and a young man identified as Youssef, nicknamed “UK.”

He said the authorities refused to allow their families to meet them, noting that the detainees were initially taken to the Jawa detention facility before being transferred to the military police headquarters in Tarang Tonga.

Another source, who requested anonymity, told Darfur24 that the three youths were subjected to torture before being transferred to Jawa, allegedly on suspicion of communicating with hostile parties.

He added that the movement’s authorities have prevented acquaintances from approaching them and threatened to arrest anyone who discusses their detention on social media or calls for their release.

Meanwhile, a source within the movement told Darfur24 that the three youths were apprehended inside areas under the movement’s control while communicating with hostile entities, according to the source. They were subsequently transferred to a detention facility in Jebel Marra and are expected to face trial.
