Khartoum Governor: Installation of Modern Surveillance Cameras at Border Crossings

Khartoum State Governor Ahmed Othman Hamza announced the launch of a project to install modern surveillance cameras at border crossings linking the state with other regions of Sudan. This initiative is part of a comprehensive plan aimed at enhancing security and stability while facilitating the movement of citizens and goods, under the supervision of the State Security Committee.

The announcement came during a field visit conducted on Saturday by the Khartoum State Security Coordination Committee, headed by the governor, to the Soba West crossing, which connects Khartoum and Al Jazirah states. The visit included a comprehensive review of security and precautionary measures in place, with an emphasis on strict adherence to committee directives, particularly regarding vehicle and cargo movement.

The visit was attended by the State Police Director, Lieutenant General Dr. Siraj El-Din Mansour Khalid, and the Commander of the Capital Military Zone, Major General Al-Numan Ali Awad Al-Sayed.

The governor stated that the visit is part of a series of ongoing measures aimed at ensuring security and stability for citizens, noting that border crossings play a vital role in safeguarding the movement of vehicles and goods.

He added that the government places great importance on providing all necessary logistical and technical support to personnel working at the crossings, enabling them to strengthen monitoring efforts, detect potential security threats, and ensure compliance with legal procedures governing vehicle movement, including verification of ownership for both operational and non-operational vehicles.

He also stressed the need for strict oversight of official documents, especially those related to individuals wearing military uniforms, in addition to monitoring the movement of personal belongings and goods to prevent their use in unlawful activities.

For his part, Lieutenant General Siraj El-Din Mansour said the visit falls within ongoing inspection tours aimed at assessing the readiness of local security committees and strengthening their capacity to monitor entry and exit movements in Khartoum State.

He added that the committee was satisfied with the level of implementation of precautionary measures at the crossings, praising the professionalism of the personnel and their respectful conduct toward citizens, reflecting a high degree of discipline and security awareness.

He emphasized that the next phase will see increased coordination among various security agencies to strengthen control and ensure stability across Khartoum State.
