National Investment Authority Calls for Promoting Sudan’s Resources

The Secretary-General of the National Investment Authority, Ahlam Madani Mahdi, called for greater promotion of Sudan’s resources in light of current global developments.

Her remarks came during her participation in an investment promotion and experience-sharing workshop organized by the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) from March 25 to 27 in Nairobi.

Speaking to the press upon her return, she highlighted the importance of the workshop in strengthening economic cooperation between Sudan and COMESA member states. The event included participation from 21 countries, around 400 COMESA members, as well as representatives from regional and international institutions, including UNCTAD and UNIDO.

She explained that Sudan’s participation in such international forums represents an important step in promoting its economic potential, introducing investors to available opportunities, building capacity through the exchange of expertise, improving the investment environment, and identifying challenges and solutions.

She added that the workshop encourages raising awareness and presenting Sudan as an attractive investment destination, which could help attract foreign direct investment. Sudan, she said, presented ready investment projects in agriculture, energy, infrastructure, manufacturing industries, digital transformation, and technology.

She stressed the importance of leveraging the COMESA free trade area to expand markets and boost investment, calling for partnerships that support economic growth.
