Jibril Heads Sudan’s Delegation Participating in the Conference of African Ministers of Finance and Economic Development

Sudan is participating in the 58th session of the Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, held under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. The conference is hosted by the Kingdom of Morocco in the city of Tangier from March 28 to April 3, 2026.

This year’s conference is held under the theme: “Growth through Innovation: Harnessing Data and Advanced Technologies to Drive Economic Transformation in Africa,” with the participation of several African ministers of finance, planning, and economic development, central bank governors, as well as representatives of development partners and international institutions.

Sudan’s delegation at this forum is headed by Minister of Finance Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, accompanied by a high-level delegation from the Central Bank of Sudan led by the First Deputy Governor, Al-Mu’tasim Abdullah Al-Faki, along with a number of administrative and technical officials, as part of Sudan’s official representation at this important annual continental conference.

The 58th session features a series of ministerial meetings, technical sessions, and specialized workshops aimed at strengthening financial and economic cooperation among African countries, exchanging expertise in fiscal, monetary, and planning policies that support inclusive growth and sustainable development across the continent, as well as exploring mechanisms for leveraging data technology and digital innovation to support economic transformation.

The Minister of Finance emphasized Sudan’s strong interest in active participation in the conference, stating that “our country’s representation in this session comes within the framework of strengthening African partnerships and exchanging economic development perspectives with our counterparts from African countries, based on the values of continental cooperation and solidarity.”

For his part, the First Deputy Governor of the Central Bank stated that “the participation of the Central Bank delegation reflects Sudan’s commitment to actively contributing to discussions on joint monetary and financial policies, and exchanging expertise with African central bank governors in a way that enhances economic stability and supports investment and development.”

Sudan’s participation in this session reflects the country’s continued commitment to supporting continental economic integration efforts and strengthening cooperation with regional and international development partners, contributing to advancing the national economy and achieving comprehensive development goals.
