Sudan Events \u2013 Sumaya Sayed<\/strong><\/p>\n Israel has presented its response to South Africa\u2019s genocide case against it at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).<\/p>\n ICJ president says World Court to present its judgement in the coming days.<\/p>\n South Africa, which has brought the case, is asking the UN court to act urgently \u201cto protect against further, severe and irreparable harm to the rights of the Palestinian people under the genocide convention, which continues to be violated with impunity\u201d.<\/p>\n Zane Dangor, director general of South Africa\u2019s Ministry of International Relations, strongly denied the allegation made by Israel\u2019s foreign ministry yesterday that South Africa is \u201cfunctioning as the legal arm\u201d of Hamas.<\/p>\n Dangor also denied Israeli claims that South African officials praised Hamas following its October 7 attack, saying, \u201cIt is something we reject with contempt.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSouth Africa\u2019s legal team represents the people of South Africa,\u201d Dangor said after the ICJ hearing, adding his country is pursuing the genocide case at the ICJ \u201cbecause we want to stop more harm to Palestinians and it is in the interest of justice.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Sudan Events \u2013 Sumaya Sayed Israel has presented its response to South Africa\u2019s genocide case against it at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
