{"id":12363,"date":"2024-01-24T12:17:46","date_gmt":"2024-01-24T12:17:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/?p=12363"},"modified":"2024-01-24T12:17:46","modified_gmt":"2024-01-24T12:17:46","slug":"south-africa-icj-judgment-on-gaza-to-be-ruled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/index.php\/2024\/01\/24\/south-africa-icj-judgment-on-gaza-to-be-ruled\/","title":{"rendered":"South Africa: ICJ judgment on Gaza to be Ruled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Agencies &#8211; Sudan Events\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>South Africa expects the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to rule this Friday on whether it will grant emergency measures to stop the war in Gaza, South African news website News24 reported on Wednesday, citing two sources close to the matter.<br \/>\nA spokesperson for South Africa\u2019s justice ministry told Reuters \u201cno communique yet.\u201d A spokesperson for Israel\u2019s foreign ministry said he was not aware and was looking into it.<br \/>\nEarlier this month South Africa asked the ICJ, also known as the World Court, to order an emergency suspension of Israel\u2019s devastating military campaign in the Palestinian enclave, accusing it of carrying out a state-led genocide.<br \/>\nIsrael dismissed the genocide allegations as \u201cgrossly distorted\u201d and said it had a right to defend itself and was targeting Hamas, not Palestinians civilians.<br \/>\nIn the initial ruling the ICJ will not deal with the main question of whether Israel is committing genocide.
