\nAt the conclusion of his visit to Ethiopia, Grandi was briefed on the efforts of the Ethiopian government, with the support of UNHCR and its partners, to help Sudanese refugees who recently arrived in the country.
\nGrandi said in a statement today (Wednesday): \u201cI heard stories of heartbreaking losses of family members, friends, homes and livelihoods, but in the midst of this state of despair, I also saw the determination of refugees to move forward, if they have support and opportunities.\u201d
\nHe expressed his appreciation to the government and local communities for allocating land to those forced to flee and welcoming them, despite the challenges they face, including hosting large numbers of refugees.
\nHe added: \u201cEthiopia\u2019s continued generosity towards refugees, including those recently arrived from Sudan, is commendable and should be matched by greater support from the international community.
