{"id":14215,"date":"2024-02-13T22:44:25","date_gmt":"2024-02-13T22:44:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/?p=14215"},"modified":"2024-02-13T22:44:25","modified_gmt":"2024-02-13T22:44:25","slug":"death-of-the-dean-of-sudanese-press","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/13\/death-of-the-dean-of-sudanese-press\/","title":{"rendered":"Death of The Dean of Sudanese Press"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Cairo &#8211; Sudan Events<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sudanese press lost on Tuesday, February 13 in Cairo afternoon Mahjoub Mohamed Saleh, the great Sudanese journalist who is considered by many to be the dean of Sudanese press<br \/>\nMahjoub Mohamed Saleh was born on April 12, 1928 ,in the city of Khartoum North (Bahri), where he received his primary and intermediate levels of education.<br \/>\nHe joined Khartoum University College in 1947, and was serving as Secretary of the Student Union at the time.<br \/>\nThe deceased&#8217;s professional career began with him joining the English-language Sudan Star newspaper in the year 1949 ,and he also worked for a short period in the New Sudan newspaper, before he and his colleagues Bashir Mohamed Saeed and Mahjoub Osman founded Al-Ayyam newspaper, the first issue of which was published on October 3, 1953. He worked as a professor. Mahjoub was appointed editor-in-chief at the time of its publication<br \/>\nUntil the date of his death, Professor Mahjoub Mohamed Salih headed the Al-Ayyam Center for Cultural Studies and Development.<br \/>\nHe was famous for his Voices and (Echoes column, ) in which he analyzed the political situation in Sudan and the problems facing the ordinary citizen.<br \/>\nHe has many books, most notably his valuable travel, The History of Sudanese press in Half a Century, in addition to Highlights on the Southern Issue and others.
