\n\u201cThe war in Gaza must end,\u201d Mr. T\u00fcrk said, insisting that it was \u201cwell past time\u201d for peace, accountability and investigations into the \u201cclear\u201d violations of international humanitarian law and possible war crimes by both sides.
\n\u201cThere appear to be no bounds to \u2013 no words to capture \u2013 the horrors that are unfolding before our eyes in Gaza,\u201d said High Commissioner T\u00fcrk, as he presented a scheduled report from his Office, OHCHR, on the desperate situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory to the Council.
\nUnderscoring the \u201cunprecedented level of killing and maiming\u201d of civilians in the enclave, Mr. T\u00fcrk noted that at least 17,000 children have now been orphaned or separated from their families.
\nAnd after reiterating his condemnation for the \u201cshocking, totally unjustifiable\u201d Hamas-led attacks on 7 and 8 October, along with the \u201cappalling and entirely wrong\u201d taking of hostages, Mr. T\u00fcrk noted that at least three in four Gazans had been displaced by the war, amid the \u201csystematic demolition of entire neighbourhoods\u201d that had rendered Gaza largely uninhabitable.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
