{"id":19242,"date":"2024-04-20T05:17:34","date_gmt":"2024-04-20T02:17:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/?p=19242"},"modified":"2024-04-20T05:17:34","modified_gmt":"2024-04-20T02:17:34","slug":"washington-punishes-two-cypriot-companies-involved-in-exporting-weapons-to-sudan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/index.php\/2024\/04\/20\/washington-punishes-two-cypriot-companies-involved-in-exporting-weapons-to-sudan\/","title":{"rendered":"Washington Punishes Two Cypriot Companies Involved in Exporting Weapons to Sudan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Events &#8211; Agencies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The United States of America has imposed sanctions on two companies registered in Cyprus due to their \u201cinvolvement in a global arms network.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Individuals linked to the companies have been accused of exporting weapons to Sudan and are wanted by the FBI.<\/p>\n<p>It turns out that Centuronic Airlines Ltd and S.\u00a0 Group, based in Paphos and founded in 2018, are front companies for Black Shield, \u201can ostensibly Iraq-based weapons company.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the US Treasurer&#8217;s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Black Shield is led by Lebanon-based Samer Raya and Syrian Mohamed Majd Diri.\u00a0 They are the director and secretary respectively of S. Group Airlines registered in Cyprus.<\/p>\n<p>Both are wanted by the FBI and \u201caccused of conspiring to illegally export weapons and ammunition from the United States to Sudan,\u201d OFAC said.<\/p>\n<p>The United States imposed sanctions on both Raya and Al-Diri.<\/p>\n<p>The Cyprus company registrar shows Raya as secretary of Centuronic Ltd alongside Tatiana Protopovich as director.<\/p>\n<p>Black Shield used front companies based in Cyprus and Raya Danismanlik, based in Turkey, to manage its business.\u00a0 It was also punished.<\/p>\n<p>OFAC identified Protopovic as a director of Centuronic Ltd, and as CEO of Raya Danismanlik, Nora Yagmur participated in Turkey in attempts to purchase weapons.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Events &#8211; Agencies The United States of America has imposed sanctions on two companies registered in Cyprus due to their \u201cinvolvement in a global arms network.\u201d Individuals linked to the companies have been accused of exporting weapons to Sudan and are wanted by the FBI.
