It was published in 1963 in the Public Opinion Literary Supplement, which was supervised by Professor Ahmed Ali Baqadi. The supplement was an event. It was published on two pages of the newspaper and opened its arms to the young writers at the University of Khartoum, among whom were the stories of the forest and the desert and the songs of the October 1964 revolution. I publish it, relying on it, in the days of the clear valor of our revolutionaries, because I do not know if the poet published it in “My Nation,” which I have not reviewed recently. If he publishes it, it is one of the poetry of Wad Al-Makki that has not been widely broadcast. Perhaps I made a typo in another word, so sorry.
On his shoulder were the stars, the longings of our neglected land
And on his broad chest there are thorns and lavender
The eyes were full of shape and stature
The colonizer who muzzles the people in his eyes is the incarnation of threat
And the flame that rages in his heart exudes fire
That I Al-Maz a prominent, brave, dynamic and strong man
It is great to see the colonizer afflicting people with humiliation, and oppression
He drinks wine of skulls and body parts and feeds on the tears of those who mourn.
It is great that the eagles find a shelter at the foot of the hill and are satisfied with it
Hell raged in his chest, hatred raged, it escaped, and a volcano erupted
He headed to mobilize determinations and forces: Let us liberate Sudan
He walked the first of the processions, stepping with steady steps and confidence.
Soldiers walked behind him, and insisting and exiting calls were made.
Our Lord, grant victory to men over enemies, have mercy on our flowing tears
The colonizer was struck by the bull of hatred and disgust.
He proceeded to mobilize the battalions and fire the cannons loudly
Then the earth was a forest of men that bore fruit and brought ruin
Green eyes in bloody tremors look for angry eyes
“Give up, soldiers, and from us to you are false covenants and promises.”
•”The decent women of Sudan listen, but rather we bravely towards death.
This is what this commanding hero shouted with extreme strength and determination
They surrounded our army and flames roared, throwing arts from hell
The night shaded the battalions until the earth and the sky became dim
And death of souls precedes the missiles. It is either destroyed or stabbed
On the battlefield, Al-Maz appeared as a winged, ready to die.
He filled the earth and the sides against the enemy prepared to die.
“If one of them eats,” the white people say, “bullets will not pierce his forehead.”
Our army attacked and defeated the intruder, so that his serfdom almost annihilated us
Gear gear has run out of gunpowder and water with skins leaking
“Go, soldiers. You have received a thousand thanks from the country
“This round we have been let down, but our wounded revenge will be sought.”
The soldiers went on and did not remain in the battlefield of death and the doctrine of immortality
He took cover inside the building ([1]) spraying fire until the mouth of the weapon ignited
On his palm, hopes were embodied and the generous cannon was solidified
They were incapable of it, and principles and ideas might be incapable of the difficult Thursday
They are lowly in their war and do not respect covenants or obligations they have made
They expelled the people from the city of Khartoum so that they could commit sins
And they took him – the beleaguered hero and protector of the brave city – on board
They bombed that building until it was reduced to stones and rubble
Then they went to dig through the ruins for the funeral of dew and dignity
They found him under the stones and rubble with the weapon in his hand, straight up
And the flame that rages in the people’s heart is blazing hot
And the light that illuminates the horizon of the people in his eyes rested and slept
Prominent, Brave, Dynamic and Strong Man biography
It was the River Hospital in its day, and it is said to be the Eye Hospital on Nile Avenue.

Al-Maz… .
