{"id":23038,"date":"2024-05-26T04:06:26","date_gmt":"2024-05-26T01:06:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/?p=23038"},"modified":"2024-05-26T11:19:46","modified_gmt":"2024-05-26T08:19:46","slug":"i-raised-my-eyes-to-heaven-wins-gold","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/index.php\/2024\/05\/26\/i-raised-my-eyes-to-heaven-wins-gold\/","title":{"rendered":"(I Raised My Eyes to Heaven) wins gold"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Sudan Events &#8211; Follow-ups<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Egyptian film \u201cI Raised My Eyes to Heaven\u201d won the Golden Eye award for Best Documentary Film at the Cannes International Film Festival, in its 77th session, and it remained the first Egyptian film to win the award since the founding of the festival.<\/p>\n<p>The film is directed by Nada Riad and Ayman Al-Amir, and stars the Panorama Barsha Theater team, Magda Masoud, Heidi Sameh, Monica Youssef, Marina Samir, Maryam Nassar, Walid Haroun, and Justina Samir, the team\u2019s founder, and produced by Feluka Films.<\/p>\n<p>The events of the film revolve around a group of girls who decided to establish a theatrical troupe and present their plays, inspired by popular Saidi folklore, in the streets of their village \u201cAl-Barsha\u201d in Minya Governorate to shed light on the issues of early marriage, domestic violence, girls\u2019 education, and talk about their simple dreams.<br \/>\nOver the course of 4 years, directors Nada Riad and Ayman Al-Amir decided to document the girls\u2019 journey and discover them more.<\/p>\n<p>The film previously received a warm welcome in its world premiere at the Critics&#8217; Week Competition at the Cannes Film Festival, in the presence of the film&#8217;s directors, the work team, and the film&#8217;s heroines from the Panorama Barsha team.
