The Federal Bureau of Investigation has identified 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks as the “subject involved” in the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, it said in a statement on Sunday.
\nCrooks, who was from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was registered as a Republican, according to the state’s voter records.
\nThe Secret Service said it killed the suspected shooter, who fired from an elevated position on side the rally venue, a farm show.
\nThe shooter had fired multiple shots from \u201can elevated position outside of the rally venue,\u201d the US Secret Service said in a statement.
\nLaw enforcement recovered an AR-style rifle at the scene, according to a person familiar with the matter.
\nTrump was holding his final rally ahead of the Republican National Convention that begins Monday in Milwaukee.
