Sudanese Journalists Syndicate launched an initiative to stop the war, and called on the SAF\u00a0 and the Rapid Support RSF Militia on the occasion of launching its campaign to respond to end the fighting and lift the suffering from the shoulders of the Sudanese.<\/div>\n

Synchronization and Timing:<\/strong><\/div>\n
The campaign coincided with the United Nations UN warnings of the outbreak of famine in Sudan as a result of the war and intensive regional and international efforts to support the American initiative for Geneva negotiations to cease fire and deliver humanitarian aid to those affected by the war.<\/div>\n
The American envoy to Sudan said that Geneva talks scheduled for mid-August will be different from Jeddah platform in terms of the existence of mechanisms for implementation, and it also coincides with new waves of displacement and extended suffering left by the attacks of the Rapid Support RSF Militia on the cities and countryside of Sennar State.<\/div>\n

Rising Numbers:<\/strong><\/div>\n
The United Nations says that more than 10 million Sudanese, about a third of the population, have been internally displaced, while more than two million people have migrated to neighboring countries. It affirmed that thousands of hospitals and medical service centers are out of service, and said that millions of children are suffering from hunger and severe malnutrition.<\/div>\n

Violence and killing:<\/strong><\/div>\n
Since the outbreak of the war on April 15 of last year, print newspapers have stopped being published, press offices have been looted and vandalized, and the suffering of journalists who have lost their jobs has intensified.<\/div>\n
The Journalists Syndicate said that 42 journalists, including 5 female journalists, have been arrested, detained and suspended since the outbreak of the April 15 war.<\/div>\n
Earlier, the Syndicate said that it had documented about 400 cases of violations against journalists during the period from April 15, 2023 to April 15, 2024 since the beginning of the conflict, including 6 murders and 8 cases of physical assault and injuries.<\/div>\n

Campaign Objectives:<\/strong><\/div>\n
The campaign launched by the Sudanese Journalists Syndicate aims to shed journalistic and media light on the scale of the massive destruction that befell the country during the year of war and to reflect the suffering of the Sudanese from its bitter repercussions and the devastating psychological, economic and social effects that result.<\/div>\n
The Secretary-General of the Sudanese Journalists Syndicate, Mohamed Abdel Aziz, says that in the midst of the bloody events that our country is witnessing, and in light of the indescribable human suffering, we as journalists have a historical responsibility.<\/div>\n
The responsibility of conveying the truth and defending the rights of our people.<\/div>\n
Today, we face grave challenges that require us to combine efforts and unify ranks.<\/div>\n
Abdel Aziz affirms that the Syndicate was at the forefront of defending press freedoms and human rights.<\/div>\n
We worked hard before the outbreak of the war to prevent the disaster, and we were the first to warn of the war and its repercussions before it broke out.
