The “Civil Defense” in Gaza announced today (Wednesday) that at least two people were killed, and 10 children were injured in a new Israeli airstrike on a school sheltering displaced people. The Israeli army accused Hamas of hiding a base within the school.<\/div>\n
\u00a0Mahmoud Basal, a spokesperson for the “Civil Defense,” told AFP that two bodies were retrieved from the rubble, and 15 wounded people, including 10 children, were taken to the hospital after Israeli airstrikes on the “Salah al-Din School” in Gaza City.<\/div>\n
\u00a0The Israeli army stated that it carried out a “targeted strike on Hamas terrorists who were operating a command center inside the school.”<\/div>\n
\u00a0On Tuesday, Civil Defense reported at least 12 deaths following an Israeli airstrike on another school in Gaza City that was sheltering thousands of displaced people.<\/div>\n
\u00a0The Israeli army also confirmed that it had carried out a “targeted strike on terrorists operating from a Hamas observation center hidden within the school.”<\/div>\n
\u00a0Earlier this August, the Israeli army bombed the “Tabi’een School” in Gaza, sparking international outrage. Civil Defense reported at the time that 93 people were killed, including at least 11 children and 6 women.<\/div>\n
\u00a0The Israeli army stated that it had “so far identified 31” fighters from Hamas and Islamic Jihad who were “eliminated” in its strike on the “Tabi’een School.”<\/div>\n
\u00a0In recent weeks, the army has bombed other schools in the Gaza Strip, especially in Gaza City, claiming they housed Hamas command centers, a claim Hamas denies.<\/div>\n
