It goes without saying that no one can predict the end of a war once it has begun, nor how it will conclude. However, there is now a real possibility of resolving the current war, considering the existing facts, the mechanisms of the conflict, the evident weakening of the militia, and the collapse of their primary goal of seizing power and the state, then declaring the Kingdom of Atawa (the Amerkratocracy). Subsequently, the entire population would have been reduced to serving the Atawa and their Amerkratic masters!

There is no longer any doubt that the armed forces, the security apparatus, and the mobilized forces are fully capable of defeating the militia, ending the war, and vanquishing the militia and its supporters. However, there remain several warnings that I believe must be taken into account.

The first of these warnings is that it has become certain that the war, at its core, is external aggression against our country, with the militia serving merely as a tool for carrying out the killings, looting, and other crimes that only professional criminals commit. Thus, there is no doubt left that imperialism is waging this war and funding it through its local and regional mechanisms and agents. We now know that some countries have become mere servants in the court of imperialism, despite flying a hundred flags. They are commanded to go east and west to sow corruption on Earth, spreading crime and devastation. Many instances have revealed the complicity of imperialism and its agents with the militia, starting with the United Nations Security Council, IGAD, and imperialism’s representative on the continent (the African Union), as well as what was revealed in the Geneva meetings. We also heard about widespread bribery that has ensnared many heads of state, mired in treachery, aimed at targeting our country.

Imperialism’s targeting of our country did not come from nowhere. We must remember that it has become almost certain that by the year 2030, imperialism and the capitalist economy will face a major recession. According to all predictions, this recession will have serious economic and social consequences for the West. Therefore, it is likely that imperialism, in its attempt to alleviate and avoid the impact of this disaster, is seeking natural resources to revive its economies, and Sudan is undoubtedly one of the countries rich in resources, especially agricultural and mineral ones. Taking control of these vast resources and exploiting them before the recession hits would solve many problems for imperialism, not least of which is creating hundreds of thousands of jobs and circulating billions of dollars of capital currently sitting idle in banks. The communications revolution, which injected vital blood into the veins of capitalism, has come to an end, and capitalism is once again facing its old and recurring crisis!

The second and most important warning is that imperialism will not accept that the army achieves a resounding victory. Imperialism is more cunning than people imagine, and it will continue to supply arms and provisions through its agents to ensure that the war does not stop. As we know from both distant and recent history, imperialism’s method throughout history has been to kill the victim and walk in their funeral, or to loot and impoverish nations, only to donate aid to them afterward!

What imperialism fears from the army’s victory are the results that would follow, as Sudan would become a victorious and respected nation, something that would have significant regional consequences. A Sudanese victory would disturb the imperialist strategists, who planned for everything except Sudan’s triumph. Our victory will be difficult for imperialism and its agents to accept, let alone swallow and digest. For all these reasons, imperialism will insist on political negotiations to exert pressure on us, which we lack the means to resist, in order to save face for both itself and its agents.

I believe that the position on imperialism and how to deal with it to end the war requires a lot of discussion and debate behind the scenes and in decision-making rooms.

In 1961, the former Russian President Khrushchev addressed the leaders of the Warsaw Pact in a private meeting, saying:

“I wish we could give imperialism a bloody nose.”

Without a doubt, the Sudanese have bloodied the nose of imperialism considerably in this war, and the blood of its agents has flowed profusely! Therefore, we must not think that imperialism will walk away with its bleeding nose and leave us in peace; rather, we must prepare for the worst, as the conspiracies will not stop! The ultimate goal of this war is to uproot us, as Sudanese (regardless of our ideological affiliations), from our land. Since this is a battle for existence, we must prove to the world that we deserve the land we live on and that we are capable of defending it. Imperialism knows better than anyone that our martyrs in this war, and those before it, have watered the land with their pure blood and left nothing behind. Their ranks still advance without fear. Sacrifice and selflessness are what terrify imperialism and its agents.

The third warning is the necessity of acknowledging that the current state structure—its constitution, laws, and institutions—is flawed. It has not accommodated us nor provided the stability that everyone seeks, and all components of society have been harmed by it: the rich and the poor, the African and the so-called Arab, the educated and the illiterate. No individual or community has been spared from the disasters and tragedies caused by the state’s flawed structure. Because this flawed state structure has caused the country to become embroiled in countless wars, our nation has become a target for every militia, Janjaweed, mercenary, and countless others, “and others besides them whom you do not know but Allah knows” (Surah Al-Anfal).

To emerge from this “historical impasse” (a term coined by the late Mohamed Abu Al-Qasim Haj Hamad), it has become imperative for nationalist thinkers and intellectuals to diligently think outside the box and find a formula that provides a decent living for our remaining generations and the ones to come. The past has been studied by the forces of history and blown away by the winds of change. The time has come for everyone to set aside all pre-war ideologies and focus on what benefits the people, ensuring security, peace, and stability. This requires that we all sit down to seek a system of governance that accommodates us and cast aside all that came before the war, guided by the lessons of failure. Let us vow that this will be the last war in our country, and let the people remember that we owe future generations the right to inherit a prosperous nation, not ruins.

It is better for us to emerge from the state of (Duraid ibn al-Simma) and guide ourselves even if our tribe strays, for we have strayed greatly, and our tribe has never been guided.

To be continued…

This land is ours.

By Ali Askouri By the coming October, the war will have lasted for a year and a half, which is relatively short compared to other ongoing wars around us (Yemen, Syria, Libya).
