{"id":33543,"date":"2024-09-28T22:24:29","date_gmt":"2024-09-28T19:24:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/?p=33543"},"modified":"2024-09-29T08:26:19","modified_gmt":"2024-09-29T05:26:19","slug":"sinner-has-his-steroid-case-appealed-by-world-anti-doping-agency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/index.php\/2024\/09\/28\/sinner-has-his-steroid-case-appealed-by-world-anti-doping-agency\/","title":{"rendered":"Sinner Has his Steroid Case Appealed by World Anti-Doping Agency"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\"><strong>Sudan Events &#8211; Agencies<\/strong><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The steroid case involving top-ranked tennis player Jannik Sinner was appealed by the World Anti-Doping Agency, the Montreal-based body known as WADA announced Saturday.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">According to The Associated Press, WADA said it is seeking a ban of one to two years for the US Open champion.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Sinner tested positive twice for an anabolic steroid in March but was not banned in a decision by an independent tribunal announced by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) on Aug. 20 because the ITIA determined he was not to blame.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Sinner\u2019s accepted explanation was that the banned performance-enhancer entered his system unintentionally through a massage from his physiotherapist, who used a spray containing the steroid to treat their own cut finger.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">WADA said it filed an appeal on Thursday to the Switzerland-based Court of Arbitration for Sport.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cIt is WADA\u2019s view that the finding of \u2018no fault or negligence\u2019 was not correct under the applicable rules,\u201d WADA said in a statement. \u201cWADA is seeking a period of ineligibility of between one and two years.
