{"id":34024,"date":"2024-10-07T02:28:47","date_gmt":"2024-10-06T23:28:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/?p=34024"},"modified":"2024-10-07T02:28:47","modified_gmt":"2024-10-06T23:28:47","slug":"army-and-joint-forces-attack-militia-positions-east-of-el-fasher","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/index.php\/2024\/10\/07\/army-and-joint-forces-attack-militia-positions-east-of-el-fasher\/","title":{"rendered":"Army and Joint Forces Attack Militia Positions East of El Fasher"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\"><strong>Sudan Events &#8211; Agencies<\/strong><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">On Sunday, the Sudanese army and joint forces of allied armed groups attacked RSF positions in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, marking the first such offensive in nearly three months during which the army had defended its positions against attacks.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The assault coincided with the arrival of military reinforcements for the joint forces in El Fasher, which has been besieged by the RSF since April.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Joint Forces spokesperson Ahmed Hussein Mustafa told \u201cDarfur 24\u201d that the army, joint forces, and popular resistance \u201ccompletely obliterated enemy positions and are advancing on all fronts.\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Mustafa confirmed the arrival of military reinforcements for the joint forces in El Fasher but did not disclose their size.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">According to \u201cDarfur 24,\u201d a convoy of combat vehicles belonging to the armed struggle movements had arrived in the city.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">A military source from the 6th Infantry Division, who requested anonymity, told \u201cDarfur 24\u201d that RSF forces had been pushed out of most of their positions east of El Fasher.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He added, \u201cOur forces are now stationed at the Mellit gate north of El Fasher after pushing RSF forces out of the Abu Ja camp for displaced persons.\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">On Sunday, the city witnessed intermittent artillery shelling by the RSF, targeting the Abu Shouk camp for displaced persons, resulting in casualties.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">In a separate development, local sources told \u201cDarfur 24\u201d that the body of Abd al-Karim Abkar, a manager at one of the aviation companies, was found in mysterious circumstances in El Fasher.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The security forces attended the scene and launched an investigation into the incident, discovering Abkar\u2019s body with gunshot wounds.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sudan Events &#8211; Agencies On Sunday, the Sudanese army and joint forces of allied armed groups attacked RSF positions in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, marking the first such offensive in nearly three months during which the army had defended its positions against attacks.
