Dutchman Ruud van Nistelrooy said on Friday that his memories of Manchester United will always remain in his mind, hoping that “the glory days” return to Old Trafford in an emotional farewell message, just days after announcing his departure.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Van Nistelrooy was appointed as the interim manager of United after the sacking of his compatriot Erik ten Hag last month.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
During his time in charge of the “Red Devils,” van Nistelrooy won three matches and drew one, including a 3-0 victory over Leicester City in the domestic league on Sunday.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The former PSV Eindhoven coach was appointed as Ten Hag\u2019s assistant in July on a two-year contract and expressed his desire to remain on the coaching staff after Portuguese Ruben Amorim was appointed as the team\u2019s new head coach.<\/div>\n

However, United issued a statement on Monday confirming that the 48-year-old would not be part of the new coaching staff.<\/div>\n

Van Nistelrooy, a former Manchester United and Real Madrid star, said that the English club will always have a “special place” in his heart.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In a message posted on his social media accounts, he said: “To everyone at Manchester United Football Club, especially the staff, players, and fans, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your amazing efforts and support.”<\/div>\n

He continued, “It has been my pleasure and an honor to represent the club as a player, assistant, and coach, and I will always cherish the memories we shared. Manchester United will always have a special place in my heart, and I hope there are more glory days at Old Trafford very soon; not just because I want the club to do well, but because you all deserve it.”<\/div>\n

Amorim will coach his first match as manager against Ipswich Town on November 24, after the international break.<\/div>\n
