On Wednesday, the Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, met with the UK Special Envoy to Sudan, Richard Crowder.<\/div>\n

Ambassador Anas Al-Tayeb Al-Jilani, Director of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated in a press briefing that the meeting was transparent and focused on the distinguished relations between Sudan and the United Kingdom. He noted that the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council emphasized the strength of these relations and the importance of enhancing and developing them in the interest of both peoples.<\/div>\n

Al-Burhan reiterated Sudan’s commitment to protecting civilians from the attacks and violations carried out by the terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF), particularly in Darfur and Al-Jazeera. He called on the international community to pressure these militias to stop the violations and halt the flow of weapons to them through Chad, which constitutes a blatant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1591 concerning Darfur, as well as the resolution related to the siege on Al-Fasher.<\/div>\n

Ambassador Anas explained that the Chairman also stressed the importance of working with the international community to end these violations, which are inconsistent with human values and human rights. Al-Burhan further noted that a comprehensive and inclusive political process will be launched after the war ends, with no place for rebel militias in its future. He expressed Sudan’s readiness to continue constructive dialogue with the UK to establish strong and solid relations.<\/div>\n

For his part, the UK Special Envoy expressed gratitude and appreciation for the meeting, acknowledging the difficult circumstances Sudan is currently facing, including the humanitarian crisis affecting millions of Sudanese. He noted that his country would not forget Sudan, as stated by the UK Foreign Secretary during United Nations meetings.<\/div>\n

The envoy also highlighted the UK’s efforts to assist the Sudanese people and discussed the urgent need to end the war and stop the conflict. He emphasized the necessity of involving all parties in dialogue, including implementing the Jeddah Declaration.<\/div>\n

The meeting also addressed the need to protect civilians, with the envoy condemning all human rights violations that have occurred recently in Al-Jazeera and other regions. He noted that the UK has increased its contributions to humanitarian operations through the United Nations, with aid deliveries exceeding 140,000 tons distributed within Sudan and an additional 69,000 tons provided to Sudanese refugees in the region.<\/div>\n

The Special Envoy stressed the importance of working together to ensure the delivery of aid to those in dire need across Sudan.
