But for us, the main focus is on developing the players and the entire team. That\u2019s the reality for me, not the pressure (of title contention). I would welcome this type of pressure. I say we\u2019re not competing because that\u2019s my reality. The key point is to keep improving and winning games.\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Chelsea is eight points ahead of struggling defending champions Manchester City. Despite City\u2019s current seventh-place standing, Mariska believes Pep Guardiola\u2019s side can still be contenders by the season\u2019s end.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He added: \u201cWe\u2019re halfway through, and the standings reflect the teams\u2019 performances and positions. Liverpool has been exceptional from day one. I believe Manchester City will be contenders by the end of the season. They\u2019re going through something unprecedented, facing a new injury after every match. It\u2019s a very difficult situation.\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Chelsea will be without defenders Wesley Fofana and Beno\u00eet Badiashile for extended periods due to injuries.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Mariska confirmed that midfielder Romeo Lavia will also miss Thursday\u2019s game as he continues recovering from a thigh injury.
