The Spanish Football Federation and La Liga issued an official statement confirming the rejection of Barcelona’s attempt to register players Dani Olmo and Pau V\u00edctor. This comes as a significant setback for the club after the Commercial Court in Barcelona dismissed their appeal to register the players permanently.<\/div>\n

Barcelona had signed Dani Olmo during the last summer transfer window from RB Leipzig but failed to secure his permanent registration due to the financial fair play restrictions imposed by La Liga.<\/div>\n

The joint statement from the Spanish Federation and La Liga read:<\/div>\n
“The Monitoring Committee of the Coordination Agreement between the Spanish Football Federation and La Liga convened to discuss the pre-visa request and the processing of federal licenses for players Dani Olmo and Pau V\u00edctor, submitted by FC Barcelona.”<\/div>\n

It added:<\/div>\n
“After Barcelona met the financial control requirements of La Liga on January 3, 2025, and completed the necessary documents, La Liga’s Budget Approval Authority decided to increase the maximum sports team cost for Barcelona from this date.”<\/div>\n

“However, after Barcelona requested the licenses for the mentioned players, and following an analysis of the applicable federal regulations, the Monitoring Committee agreed not to grant the pre-visa or the final license requested by Barcelona for players Dani Olmo and Pau V\u00edctor.”<\/div>\n

The statement concluded:<\/div>\n
“This decision is based on the literal interpretation of Articles 130.2 and 141.5 of the General Regulations of the Spanish Football Federation, which prohibit any player whose license is canceled from obtaining a new license with the same team within the same season.”<\/div>\n

Barcelona’s efforts to register the two players have failed, with the rejection coming from La Liga, the Spanish Federation, the Primary Court, and the Commercial Court.
