{"id":40465,"date":"2025-01-10T00:36:38","date_gmt":"2025-01-09T21:36:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/?p=40465"},"modified":"2025-01-10T00:36:38","modified_gmt":"2025-01-09T21:36:38","slug":"al-khureida-madani","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/index.php\/2025\/01\/10\/al-khureida-madani\/","title":{"rendered":"Al-Khureida&#8230; Madani"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\"><strong>Bakri Ismail<\/strong><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">As one of our eloquent speakers said, &#8220;Hantoub sits near Madani like the hamza on its line.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">And we say, rather like the curve in its waist,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">and the mole on its cheek,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">leading to our Nile, whispering to it and sharing its secrets, cooling from its waters and quenching its thirst with its pure flow&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">And swimming in its waves&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Madani speaks of men like fierce lions&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">And its people, as they say:<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">They are fiery and proud,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">kind, generous, and forgiving,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">carriers of burdens,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">solvers of problems,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">brothers of the daughters,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">they are the dawn, hope, the evening meal,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">they are reassurance, safety, help, and support<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">for their children&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">They are the milk and the sorghum, the guardian and the tough ones, the wisdom and the shield.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">They are &#8220;the unknown&#8221; and &#8220;yes,&#8221; they are dignity<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">for their farmers and workers&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">All of this was before the &#8220;malaqit&#8221; (spurious newcomers) dirtied it with their filthy feet, these vile, wretched scoundrels.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">However, the people of Madani, like gold, become even shinier when heated by hardship&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Their paths only resonate more.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">We\u2019ve heard strange stories about the people of Madani in times of war&#8230; They embraced those who came from Khartoum in refugee camps at their schools&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">They tell you about the groom who shared his breakfast with the refugees at the camp&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">He delighted them a little and they celebrated with him, sharing joy, songs, and drums&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">And the man who distributed ice for free, cooling the thirsty and the burnt-out souls of those exhausted by displacement&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">And the one who sacrificed the Madani horned goats every Thursday, offering them to the displaced, along with their fava beans, onions, sugar, and vermicelli&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">And Fatimah, may God bless her, at ninety, bent over but her resolve never faltered. She would brew tea for the displaced children every morning and feed them homemade fritters with her withered hands until her pure soul passed away in one of those camps&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">For a person is with the one they love.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">And a loaf from your own pocket&#8230; Its goodness filled the hungry bellies and noble souls&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Madani, founded by Khurshid Pasha during the Ottoman era in 1821, was the capital of Sudan when our Khartoum was between water and mud&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Oh, I wish I could spend a night in the valley of Madani&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">For then I would be happy.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Would I spend a night in Mazad, Awad and Marengan, Dardak, Mayo, Andalus, Al-Manira, and its people who are radiant&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Or in the Zamalek neighborhood, where the Madani people (the resilient ones) live?<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Or in Wad Azraq, Hantoub, and the Island of the Elephant, Banat Sa\u2019ad, my heart today overwhelmed&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">And the University of the Island, the Island Project, Marengan, Barakat, and the sincere greetings to the people of the Island from Rifa&#8217;a, Al-Aseilat, Al-Halawiyyin, Al-\u2018Irkiyyin, Al-Khawalid, Al-\u2018Awamra, Al-Shabaraqa, Al-Kawahla, Al-Shukriya, Al-Muslimiyya, and the like&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">It was founded five hundred years ago by Sheikh Madani al-Sunni, the son of Dushin, the judge of justice who migrated to Sudan from southern Egypt, our sisterly country&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Would I leave Madani and go live nearby&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">As Muhammad Miskin sang&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">And Madani is the long, brown sun, with its mosques spread far&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">It gave birth to Major General Muhammad Naguib, the first Egyptian president, and the Egyptian cinema star Ibrahim Khan (from our beloved aunt Fawzia&#8217;s family).<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">And Madani gave birth to Al-Kashif, Al-Misah,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">and Insaf Madani, Essam Mohamed Noor,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Mohamed Miskin, Ramadan Hassan,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Santo, Hamouri,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Hamad, Al-Diba, something extraordinary,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">and Madani&#8230; Haidar Katama and Abbas Barclays,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Essam Hassan&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">It\u2019s Ahmed Khair, the lawyer,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Amin Maki Madani,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Abu Arki Al-Bakhit,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Abdel Aziz Al-Mubarak,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Ramadan Hassan,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Milleji,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Ya Fadlallah Mohamed&#8230; Madani is a little hurt&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">May it be far from harm.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">And Madani is Hantoub, Mr. Brown, Jaafar Nimeiri, Hassan Al-Turabi, Abdel Aziz Shido, and Mohamed Ibrahim Naqd&#8230; And many others who lived in Hantoub\u2019s yards and fields, drawing knowledge from it, and later became the leaders and figures of the glorious 1956 state&#8230; How many crossed the Blue Nile, swimming and playing in the beautiful fields of Hantoub, with its magnificent view&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Here is where literature thrives, and here is where youth work for their homeland,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">not seeking rewards,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">to you, the greatest message is to teach ignorance&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">May Allah have mercy on Mohamed Awad Al-Karim Al-Qurashi and Al-Khair Osman.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Indeed, Madani will return,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">and its glory, beauty, goodness, and brightness will shine again.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Its light will shine and its blessings will flow over the people of Sudan, for the Island, in general, is the mother of noble men, who gave and still give&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">It gave the righteous,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">the people of the mosque,<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Sheikh Al-Junaid, Sheikh Abu Daa&#8217;a, Sheikh Banga Al-Darir, Sheikh Halawi, Sheikh Omar, Sheikh Abu Qurun, Sheikh Abu Sheeba, Al-Jumri, Batran, Shumu, Al-Qadal, Senteber, Abdel-Baqi, Awd Al-Sayed, Awd Al-Jid, Awd Al-Darb, Al-Muslimi, Al-Kasheef, Al-Mushammar, Timasah Al-Turki, Wad Issa, Wad Kinan, Wad Modawi, Wad Niq\u2019a, Wad Al-Turabi, Wad Al-Shafi&#8217;i, Wad Basati, Wad Dif Allah, Wad Ab Adari, Abdullah, Wad Umm Mariyum, Barir, Wad Al-Hussain, Hajjo, Wad Al-Betul Qurashi, Wad Al-Zayn, Al-Muslimi, Wad Ab Nissa&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">And it gave birth to the Shadhili, Samaniyyah, Qadriyyah, Al-Hindi, and the Sheikhs of Al-Dabasin, Al-Yaqoubab, Al-Hassaniyyah, Al-Rakabiyyah, Al-Halawiyyin, Al-Muslimiyyah.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">It gave and never stopped giving&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">And it will expel the scum, for they will perish&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">And to the end&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Goodbye to Daqlo&#8230;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Goodbye to Daqlo&#8230;<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bakri Ismail As one of our eloquent speakers said, &#8220;Hantoub sits near Madani like the hamza on its line.&#8221;
