On Wednesday, the Chairman of the Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, met with the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Dr. Badr Abdel-Atti, in the presence of Sudanese Foreign Minister Dr. Ali Yusuf.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Dr. Ali Yusuf stated in a press release that the Egyptian Foreign Minister conveyed the greetings and congratulations of his brother, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi, and the Egyptian people to the Sovereign Council President for the victories achieved by the armed forces, the liberation of Wad Madani, and its return to the homeland. He added that the meeting also discussed the overall situation and ways to enhance and develop cooperation between the two countries.<\/div>\n

He pointed out that the meeting focused on Egypt’s supportive role for Sudan and efforts to achieve peace, reconstruction, and development, describing the Egyptian counterpart\u2019s visit to Sudan as successful and one that will have lasting effects.<\/div>\n

He further explained that he had conducted discussions with his Egyptian counterpart, during which several topics were addressed, including bilateral relations and regional and international issues of common concern. He noted that there was alignment in views on all the topics discussed.<\/div>\n

The discussions also covered the challenges faced by Sudanese citizens in Egypt, and he stated, \u201cMost of these issues have been addressed.\u201d He mentioned that Egypt had renewed its welcome to Sudanese citizens residing in the country and had provided all necessary facilitation and visas for their entry into Egypt.<\/div>\n

Dr. Yusuf added that an agreement had been reached to activate joint mechanisms, dialogue, and consultation frameworks between the two countries\u2019 foreign ministries, with a meeting scheduled for next month. Additionally, a quadripartite meeting between the foreign and irrigation ministers of both countries will be held next month.<\/div>\n

Dr. Yusuf also mentioned that the two countries agreed to activate joint ministerial committees and hold numerous meetings aimed at strengthening and promoting bilateral relations across various fields.<\/div>\n

For his part, Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdel-Atti said he conveyed a message from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi to his brother, Sudanese Sovereign Council President Al-Burhan, regarding bilateral relations and ways to enhance them, as well as issues of common concern.<\/div>\n

He added that the message emphasized Egypt\u2019s commitment to continue supporting Sudan and its institutions to maintain its unity, assist the Sudanese people, and host Sudanese citizens, providing them with all possible care.<\/div>\n

Dr. Abdel-Atti explained that his visit to Sudan had been mandated by President Sisi to intensify communication with Sudan and provide political support to maintain Sudan\u2019s unity, stability, and territorial integrity. He said, \u201cMy meeting with the President of the Sovereign Council was important and positive. I conveyed President Sisi\u2019s greetings and his wishes for further development, prosperity, and stability for Sudan.\u201d<\/div>\n

He also mentioned that the meeting discussed ways to develop and enhance bilateral relations and the positive developments occurring, as well as increasing the pace of political consultations between the two countries. The meeting also touched on the progress in trade relations and economic cooperation, especially after the recent business forum held in Cairo to support economic cooperation between the private sectors of both countries.<\/div>\n

The Egyptian Foreign Minister noted that the meeting discussed arrangements for the second forum, which will be held in Sudan after Ramadan, to maintain the momentum of regular meetings between the private sectors and the official level, including meetings between the ministers of economic sectors to develop areas of cooperation.<\/div>\n

He added, \u201cI conveyed to the President of the Sovereign Council all the care Egypt provides to its Sudanese brothers on Egyptian soil, and the President expressed his appreciation for Egypt\u2019s supportive role, under President Sisi\u2019s leadership, in regional and international forums, including within the African Union.\u201d<\/div>\n

He further explained that the President of the Sovereign Council expressed deep appreciation for Egypt\u2019s hosting of Sudanese citizens and creating a conducive environment for conducting the Sudanese secondary exams for more than 28,000 students in Egypt. He pointed out President Sisi\u2019s concern for the future of Sudanese students.<\/div>\n

The meeting also discussed the overall situation in Sudan and the challenges facing the region, including tensions and conflicts, as well as the situation in the Horn of Africa and the water issue between the two countries. Dr. Abdel-Atti pointed out that there is alignment in positions on the importance of preserving water rights and working to reach a legally binding agreement on the operation of the Ethiopian Dam, maintaining full coordination between the two countries in regional and international forums regarding water issues, and continuing to support the Nile Basin Initiative, as both countries are members of this important regional group.<\/div>\n

He also mentioned that the meeting covered ways to support and rebuild Sudan, expressing hope for intensified Egyptian, regional, and international efforts to reach a ceasefire and ensure the delivery of humanitarian assistance to all parts of Sudan. He said, \u201cWe appreciate the positive steps taken by the Sovereign Council to facilitate humanitarian aid.\u201d<\/div>\n

He added, \u201cWe hope that a ceasefire will be reached, leading to a comprehensive political process, which will coincide with an international conference with wide global and Arab participation for reconstruction and development. Egypt is ready to host this conference to help Sudan return to its regional role and prominence within the African Union. Egypt will not hesitate to make every possible effort to restore Sudan\u2019s activities within the African Union and correct the decision made under unrealistic circumstances, and we must work to restore Sudan\u2019s role as a founding member of the Organization of African Unity.\u201d<\/div>\n

Dr. Abdel-Atti also noted that he held talks with the Vice President of the Sovereign Council and the Sudanese Foreign Minister, covering bilateral relations, activating political consultation frameworks between the two countries, and addressing shared concerns and challenges facing the region.
