The ministry stated that this agreement aims to establish a parallel government, which it sees as an attempt to divide Sudan.

In its statement, the Foreign Ministry refuted Kenya’s claims that this initiative was meant to help achieve peace in Sudan. It stressed that the Kenyan government’s actions constitute a violation of international laws and treaties, demonstrating blatant disregard for them. The ministry further asserted that Sudan would take appropriate measures in response to this behavior.

The statement read: “In an unprecedented and serious development, in complete defiance of the UN Charter and the African Union’s foundational act, and posing a grave threat to regional peace and security, Kenya’s leadership has endorsed a parallel government that the genocidal militia and its followers plan to declare in the few remaining pockets under their control.”

The ministry also pointed to the slogans chanted by participants at the signing session, describing them as calls for the militia to invade specific Sudanese cities and regions to continue their campaign of ethnic cleansing and genocide. It cited atrocities committed in Al-Geneina, Ardamata, villages in Al-Jazira and Sennar, Zamzam Camp, villages in North Darfur, and Al-Qutaynah, arguing that these events contradict Kenya’s claims that the militia’s meetings, under its sponsorship, were aimed at achieving peace.

The statement also referenced a report from Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, in which a militia leader who attended the meetings admitted that the goal of the pact was to establish a government that would allow them to acquire weapons that non-state armed groups are otherwise prohibited from possessing.

It continued: “The Kenyan presidency’s insistence on this dangerous course of action reflects its disregard for international law, regional peace and security, the obligations to prevent genocide and impunity, and the fight against terrorism. Furthermore, it demonstrates a blatant disregard for Kenya’s national interests in its relations with Sudan, particularly in trade and vital economic sectors.”

Sudan Events – Reports The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned a statement issued by Kenya’s Foreign Minister, in which he welcomed the signing of a pact between political forces and the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
