He was 60.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe should have gone to a rehabilitation clinic &#8230; a more protected place for him,\u201d Mario Alejandro Schiter, who treated Maradona for two decades, told the court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKnowing the patient, I would not have suggested home hospitalization; he was not easy to manage, given my direct knowledge of having treated him at the worst moment of his life,\u201d added Schiter, who treated Maradona for a drug addiction.<\/p>\n<p>According to the prosecution, the seven professionals charged in the negligence case \u2014 a neurosurgeon, a psychiatrist, a psychologist, doctors, and nurses \u2014 failed to provide adequate care, which may have led to his death.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey lied to all of us, to all the family, it is a shame,\u201d said Veronica Ojeda, who was married to Maradona from 2005 to 2014.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Diego Maradona&#8217;s ex-wife and a doctor testified Tuesday at the trial of seven medical professionals accused of negligence in the death of the soccer great, questioning the decision to take him home following surgery in 2020 rather than admitting him to a rehabilitation center.
