{"id":46390,"date":"2025-04-13T17:18:12","date_gmt":"2025-04-13T14:18:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/?p=46390"},"modified":"2025-04-13T17:18:12","modified_gmt":"2025-04-13T14:18:12","slug":"al-burhan-in-turkey-insights-behind-the-multiple-meetings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sudanevents.com\/index.php\/2025\/04\/13\/al-burhan-in-turkey-insights-behind-the-multiple-meetings\/","title":{"rendered":"Al-Burhan in Turkey\u2026 Insights Behind the Multiple Meetings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Report by Talal Ismail<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sudan\u2019s Sovereign Council Chairman, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, has held a series of meetings since Friday afternoon upon his arrival in Antalya, Turkey, to participate in the 2025 edition of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, following an invitation from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan.<\/p>\n<p>Al-Burhan was accompanied by Foreign Minister Ambassador Dr. Ali Youssef, General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, Director of the General Intelligence Service, and General Mirghani Idris, Director of the Defense Industries System.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement from the Sudanese Sovereign Council, seen by Al-Muhaqiq, Al-Burhan met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Antalya.<br \/>\nThe meeting addressed ways to strengthen and advance bilateral relations in all fields, along with discussing the situation in Sudan, recent political developments following victories by the Sudanese Armed Forces, and other topics of mutual interest.<\/p>\n<p>Present at the meeting were Ambassador Nader Youssef, Sudan\u2019s envoy to Turkey, General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, and General Mirghani Idris.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meeting with Libya\u2019s Prime Minister<\/strong><br \/>\nAl-Burhan also met with Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, Prime Minister of Libya\u2019s Government of National Unity. The two discussed bilateral relations and ways to develop and enhance them across various sectors. They also reviewed the latest developments in Sudan and exchanged views on pressing regional matters.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting emphasized the importance of aligning political positions on regional issues and supporting efforts to achieve peace, security, and stability in Sudan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meeting with the President of Sierra Leone<\/strong><br \/>\nAdditionally, Al-Burhan met with Sierra Leonean President Julius Maada Bio. Discussions focused on bilateral relations and opportunities for enhancing cooperation between the two countries in service of their shared interests. The two leaders also addressed several regional and international matters of common concern.<\/p>\n<p>Both presidents expressed a mutual commitment to elevating their ties in ways that reflect the aspirations of their peoples and strengthen their cooperation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meeting with Erdo\u011fan<\/strong><br \/>\nAl-Burhan also met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan. The talks revolved around strengthening bilateral ties and exploring broader areas of cooperation for the benefit of both nations.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting also covered the latest developments in Sudan, efforts to achieve peace, and post-conflict reconstruction, in addition to regional and international developments of shared interest.<\/p>\n<p>Al-Burhan expressed appreciation for Turkey\u2019s supportive stance toward Sudan in regional and international forums, its commitment to Sudan\u2019s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and its continued humanitarian support during the country\u2019s crisis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sudanese-Russian Talks<\/strong><br \/>\nOn the sidelines of the forum, Sudanese Foreign Minister Ambassador Dr. Ali Youssef met with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.<\/p>\n<p>According to a Sudanese Foreign Ministry statement seen by Al-Muhaqiq, the minister thanked Lavrov for maintaining ongoing communication, referring to their recent productive meeting in Moscow.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, Youssef provided a detailed briefing on the latest developments in Sudan, highlighting recent military victories, including the army\u2019s regaining control over the capital, Khartoum. He reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to restoring peace and stability nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>The minister praised the growing and positive evolution of bilateral relations and the ongoing coordination across all fields. He also noted preparations for the upcoming Joint Ministerial Committee meeting, scheduled to be held in Port Sudan at the end of the month.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, Lavrov reaffirmed Russia\u2019s steadfast support for Sudan and its commitment to backing the Sudanese government in international forums, particularly the UN Security Council.
