Lothar Matth\u00e4us, former captain of Bayern Munich and the German national team, has stressed that Thomas M\u00fcller should be included in the starting lineup for Bayern\u2019s match against Inter Milan tomorrow, Wednesday, in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.<\/p>\n
In his column on the official website of Sky Sports, Matth\u00e4us wrote: \u201cM\u00fcller must play. Anything else seems unthinkable from my point of view.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cIf (Vincent) Kompany decides not to start M\u00fcller and things go wrong, the coach\u2014who has done brilliantly in recent months\u2014will be under pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bayern must win by at least two goals at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan to continue their Champions League journey and secure a place in the semifinals, following a surprising 2-1 defeat in the first leg at home last week.<\/p>\n
M\u00fcller did not start in the first leg at Allianz Arena, Bayern\u2019s home stadium, but came off the bench to score the team\u2019s only goal. He then started in Bayern\u2019s 2-2 Bundesliga draw against their archrival Borussia Dortmund last Saturday.<\/p>\n
Both matches came after it was announced that Bayern would not renew M\u00fcller\u2019s contract, which expires at the end of the current season.
