The African Development Bank has announced a comprehensive program covering the education, health, and water sectors to be implemented in Sudan, as part of the restructuring of the bank\u2019s funded projects.
\nMr. Rufus N., Executive Director for Sudan at the Bank, revealed the extension of Sudan\u2019s country program until 2026 in consideration of the ongoing war, which has hindered the launch of a new funding program following the expiration of the previous one at the end of 2024.<\/p>\n
During his meeting with the Executive Director at the Ministry Complex, with the participation of Dr. Mohammed Bashar Mohammed, Undersecretary for Planning, Minister of Finance Dr. Jibreel Ibrahim expressed the government\u2019s commitment to strengthening its cooperation with the bank. He praised the bank\u2019s continuous support to vital and developmental sectors and its willingness to participate in reconstruction efforts. He emphasized the significance of the Executive Director’s visit during these exceptional circumstances.<\/p>\n
For his part, Dr. Bashar reiterated the government\u2019s commitment to identifying priorities for new projects by sector. He commended the bank\u2019s support for the economy and institutional development, as well as its contribution to food security through wheat production, with a grant totaling $76.8 million.<\/p>\n
The Executive Director praised Sudan\u2019s consistent repayment of its arrears and stressed the importance of the Minister of Finance’s participation in the African Development Bank Group’s annual meetings scheduled for the last week of May.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
