Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssef, welcomed the significant and positive developments in Sudan, particularly the return of the capital, Khartoum \u2014 a symbol of Sudan\u2019s sovereignty and institutions, led by the Sovereign Council as the official governing body of the state.<\/p>\n
During a meeting with Sudan\u2019s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, Al-Zain Ibrahim, Youssef affirmed the African Union\u2019s support for Sudan\u2019s sovereignty, its territorial integrity, and unity. He firmly rejected any attempts or parallel arrangements aiming at secession, especially in Darfur. He also welcomed all efforts that ensure peace, stability, and a safe transition in the country.<\/p>\n
Ambassador Al-Zain gave a detailed briefing on the current developments in Sudan, highlighting the success of the armed forces and their allied units in liberating Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, and their continued efforts in the “War of Dignity” to reclaim all Sudanese territory and restore the authority of the state and its institutions.<\/p>\n
He also addressed the violations committed by the militia besieging El Fasher and the displacement camps in Zamzam and Abu Shouk, which have received widespread condemnation, particularly from the African Union.<\/p>\n
The meeting also covered the African Union\u2019s role in the past and its importance in this critical phase, as well as Sudan\u2019s need to reorganize its affairs through close coordination and positive engagement, in line with the roadmap announced by General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sovereign Council, in February.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
